Osaka city

The city has at least three very big ferris wheels – this one’s right behind our hotel and the station.

And here’s an advert for Scotland’s oldest university, in the middle of Osaka….

Our hotel is part of a massive building complex with shops and a huge railway station. There are lots of floors both underground and up high, and for the first two days we didn’t need to go outside – walkways and stairs are covered and yet it doesn’t feel like you’re inside. The conference is in the same complex.

Behind this huge poster are lifts – when they go up and down you can see the lights through the picture.

and now views from our 22nd floor corner room…

On Tuesday evening we ventured outside in the rain (the weather isn’t great but it’s warm). We went to the Sky Building – two big towers with a large square sitting on top of them, and a circular ‘garden’ on top of that. You get to it in a fast glass elevator that sits outside the building between floors 3 and 35, then take the escalator between the two towers from floor 35 to 39 – very high up!!
